He hadn't seen Felicia's face in nearly a month, a fact that was starting to eat away at the young man. Having arrived back home at a late hour, after the princess had gone to sleep, Eli had only two options. One, he could simply wait until morning and greet her at breakfast, or two... he could scale the side of the tower in which she resided and sneak into her bed chamber. It was a cloudy knight outside, the full moon poking through the clouds every so often. The cloud cover helped to block the dim light, helping Eli to avoid detection from the guards. It was frowned upon, even for knights who lived in the palace, to sneak into a young, royal woman's chamber. The very thought of what the king's reaction would be made the raven haired man smile as he finally climbed up to the edge of the balcony rail and jumped down onto the stone floor outside Felicia's balcony door. Eli wore all black and not just because he was trying to avoid being caught. When he wasn't wearing armor, Eli usually donned black clothing. Cailan sometimes joked that he looked like a pirate, but the ladies always enjoyed his handsome, rugged appearance. Using a knife that he always kept handy, he slipped the blade into the crack between the double doors so that the lock on the inside lifted so that he could slowly and silently pull the doors open. Sliding quietly into her chamber, the doors still open behind him, Eli dropped to the ground and crawled on the floor to the side of her bed. Peeking his head up, just so he could see over the edge, he couldn't help but crack a smile at her sleeping form. He always missed her when he had to go away. Sure, he got along well enough with the men he served the kingdom with, but Felicia was his best friend and had been since the day he laid his grey-blue eyes on her. "Hey," he said, poking her on the side of his face with his index finger. "Felicia." With a sigh, he pushed himself up and jumped onto her bed beside her. Crossing one ankle over the other, he leaned against the head board, his hands behind his head. "You know I'm just going to sit here and continue to pester you until you get up and accompany me on a late night rendezvous..." he said, smiling at the very idea. "I was thinking that we could perhaps go hunting for giants... Or, since it's a full moon tonight, we could head to the beach for a swim, in the hopes of being turned into a mermaid and a merman... It's up to you, really. I am, after all, your loyal, dashing, young servant."[/style] ❞ YOU BELIEVE THERE'S SOMETHING ELSE TO RELIEVE YOUR EMPTINESS AND YOU DREAM ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOU BLEED AND BREATHE THE AIR. Of course she didn't stay inside the castle walls even if she was ordered to so she had spent the day outside visiting the villages and her friends in them. Of course a friend she missed the most was Eli, because everything ran smooth when he was around. Felicia was quite used to the fact that Eli actually was away, sometimes even for longer periods of time, but was never quite pleased about it. Oh well, at least she didn't have to worry if she was accidentally showing her feelings. Felicia didn't honestly know if her father had something in storage for her. She was seventeen, and her father had once said that he wouldn't necessarily give her hand to anyone but let her pick his own future husband. Felicia had not trusted it though. Every princess was most likely to be betrothed to keep peace or make peace. She did love her father and partially because of that, she did not say a thing to Eli. Besides, she was not good at talking about her feelings. Some chitchat on the other hand ran quite smoothly trhough her lips.
Felicia was getting ready for bed, even though she would've rather stayed up and do something else. However, she had some boring official matter with her family in the afternoon and she didn't know what it was about. Nor did she reall care. Alright, her father had said something about meeting someone and doing something but she really wasn't a good listener. Or she had horrible memory. Whatever you wish to think. But what she did know was that she would be bored to death just eating lunch with them and had to get up early to bathe and let the maids work their magic. Oh lordy. Another day in a strangling dress. Not her first choice of clothing. She did after all prefer something comfortable and something she was able to breathe in.
Once she managed to braid her hair and get into her nightgown, she took her staff and helped to cause soundwaves so she could see her way to the bed. Her room was quite familiar to her, yes, but she still didn't want to get any of her maids in trouble if they had changed anything in there. Her father wasn't evil, but he was quite protective, especially after Felicia had lost her sight. She sat down on her bed, covered by freshly changed satin sheet and put the staff away. She laid down and curled up under her blanket. Then came the silence and darkness.
Felicia didn't quite know how long she had been asleep when she heard noises from her balcony. Just some small ones that could've been caused by wind or something like that but she knew better. After she lost her sight, her other senses became a bit more domineering – even though she had the blindsight. It was not like she had some strange supersenses, but just a bit enhanced. She was quite alert even without them. She did not open her eyes though but decided to pretend to be asleep. If it was a burglar or criminal, she'd probably have the advantage of surprise. Once that someone stepped in and poked her face and started talking, she knew exactly who was in her room. She actually gave a quick smile but decided not to react at first and see how it went. She was always a bit playful around Eli. Once he sat beside her, she couldn't ignore it anymore. ”You're crazy you know? Have you got any idea what my father would put you through if he found you here, in my bed, in the middle of the night?” She turned around. ”Plus the dagger under my pillow... You should know better, sir Roswell.” Well of course, she didn't have a dagger under her pillow, but still.
”Now now there, sir, I'm a princess. I cannot do that . Princesses must obey the rules.” Felicia had a smirk on her face. ”But luckily for you I'm not quite good at following the rules. Hello, Eli.” She rise up and embraced him as somewhat ”thank god you're back”-gift. [/style] |

"Right, your dagger," he said, mockingly before letting out a sigh. A chuckle escaped his throat and his arms wrapped around her as well, the embrace warm. He was careful not to squeeze her too hard as he often forgot just how strong he was when he was around Felicia. "Hello, princess," he said in response, taking in her scent. The smell of her hair was like a drug to him and, to avoid the embarrassment of being caught smelling her, Eli pulled away from her, tucking her hair behind her ear and taking a good look at her. She grew into more of a woman with each an every day that passed. "Are you going out like that, or are you going to get dressed?" Getting to his feet, he crossed the room and pressed his ear to her chamber door. He couldn't hear the sound of snoring, so he figured that the guards hadn't fallen asleep. There was no way they were getting out through the corridor. "How much do you trust me?" he asked. Though she may not have been able to see the mischievous smile on his face as he turned around, you could hear it in his tone. He would take her out the way he came in.... they would climb. Ok, he would climb and carry her if he had to. His adrenaline was starting to pump from his excitement and the very idea of breaking such rules as he lightly jogged to her balcony to see if anyone was keeping an eye on it. "Come on, before someone sees us and takes us to your father to have me beheaded." The young knight was practically bouncing with excitement. Seeing her always completely renewed his energy, which made him ponder.... what would he ever do without Felicia? His grey-blue eyes turned back to her and he watched her for a moment, just taking her in. His heart was pounding so rapidly that he was sure it would explode. He was so excited for a moment that he almost forgot that she couldn't see the way he could. "Do you need help dressing? Or shall I carry you away, indecent as you are?" Had he been talking to any other woman, he would have wiggled his brows after this statement. Felicia though... she probably knew him well enough to know that an inappropriate expression would follow such a statement. But she couldn't be mad at Eli for waking her. Gosh, she would even skip the lunch for him if she had the choice. She had been skipping a few official meetings because of many things, sometimes just to hang out with Eli. Or searching for and adventure with him. She just loved being around him. It made her feel so alive. Plus of course Eli had the same positively mischievous and adventurous nature as she did. ”Exactly.” Felicia had the habit of being playful and a bit sarcastic around Eli. ”Beware the dagger.”
Believe it or not though, Felicia actually knew how to use daggers even though she didn't keep one under her pillow. It wouldn't help her much though if there was no sound resonating from the different surfaces so she could actually see what she was fighting with. Nor did she enjoy fighting so much even though she did challenge some castle guards into sword fights. All no real of course. They would've gotten in trouble if they hurt her and Felicia didn't want that. Eli would most likely defeat her in a blink of an eye if she really fought him sometime.
Eli's scent and warm embrace was truly welcomed back to Felicia's life. Again. She could see his face quite faintly when he spoke, but that wasn't really enough. So she reached her hand out to his face and felt his jaw first, slowly feeling the rest of his face. It was really relieving to have someone familiar around. Well, someone outside of her family. ”It's truly good to have you back.” She gave him a big smile, happy to have her friend back. As said before, even though she was used to the fact that Eli was away, she never really liked it much. It was no fun to go find adventures on your own. And she had even those spoilsport friends who actually outed her to her father.
Rain was probably the best weather to be in. Also why she liked to be rather outside than inside was that there was so many different sounds in nature that made all around her vibrate with some kind of sound and she could see. It was bit harder in a stone cold castle, where the walls were so thick even the sound of a fight wouldn't manage to get through. Felicia leaned a bit backwards and took a sitting position. She grinned to Eli's question. She could hear him moving around the room. ”You know very well I do trust you with my life.” Eli was probably one of the few she trusted completely. She knew him well, or at least she thought she knew. It was enough to trust him. Even though she didn't know what he had exactly in his mind.
Eli was hasty. Impatient even. But in a funny way. Had it been anyone else, Felicia probably would have snapped and told them to hold their horses and calm down. But not Eli. She swore she could feel his mischievous expression after talking about dressing indecently. ”Why Eli, always such a gentleman. You would like that, now wouldn't you? But thank you, I can handle it myself.” Felicia took her staff and went back behind her dressing screen. She took her nightgown off and tossed it partly over the screen. It was bit chilly both inside and outside, but not really that cold. She then changed into comfortable beige cotton trousers and a long-sleeved cream-colored shirt with some forest green shreds. She searched for her brown leather belt but couldn't find it anywhere behind the screen. ”Do you see my belt somewhere?”
Finally finishing the changing process, she stepped out, her hair still on braid. She had her calf-length brown leather boots on that had a small heel. It was easier for her to move with those than in high-heel shoes or boots. ”I just need you to be my eyes until we get off the castle grounds, alright?” She had her staff with her, along her little sword upon her belt, just in case. She tapped it to the floor to see a bit better where Eli was waiting. Balcony door. Oh, how many times had she actually left through her balcony when going through the halls was bit too risky. She walked by Eli to her balcony. ”Well, are you coming?” She gave him a smirk, hopping over her balcony rail, ready to go. She actually knew every place she could put her foot in. She had climbed to her bed chambers quite often. And she was down faster than most would've expected. [/style] |

Though he surely could have gotten a peek without being caught, he refrained from doing so, as always. Perhaps it was the fact that Felicia trusted him beyond anyone else. He was always striving to live up to her image of him. So, turning away from the screen to resist any temptations, the young man swallowed hard. He hated to admit just how nervous Felicia made him at times, especially when she was climbing. He would never take away her freedom though and, if she was going to attempt something, he would never stop her. Even if he did try, she wouldn't allow it anyway. Watching her as she pulled herself over the rail, he stood there for a moment, watching her. Not for the first time, he hated himself for not having been able to protect her that day. If he had been able to do something... anything... she would have been able to see. She would have been able to look into a mirror to see just how beautiful she was. Clearing his throat after a moment, he grabbed hold of her belt, which had been sitting out of reach from her while she was changing. "Your belt," he said and, instead of just handing it to her, he looped it around her before buckling it for her, so that she wouldn't have to let go of the rail to put it on. "You know I wish you would let me go first, in case you should fall." He didn't expect her to allow this though. He knew as well as she did that she knew her footing, but Eli still couldn't help but worry. Well, that and he liked to pester her. Pestering her was his favorite thing to do. [style=font-family: times; font-size: 12px; letter-spacing: 1px; text-transform: lowercase; color: #989898; font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;] 820 WORDS FOR ELIoh lordy, now it went all fluffy... SKYFALL [/style] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #6d6d6d;] [style=padding: 10px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 10px; height: 475px; overflow: auto; color: #1e1e1e;]Felicia was never quite used to be second, she was used to being first. At everything. Not that she went into rage if she lost but she was just competitive like that. But it really wasn't like it with Eli. It was more humorous, like they were playing when they were kids. To be honest, she never missed those just because she still felt like that little kid playing with her best friend. Different games of course. Although Felicia had a habit of sneaking out even as a child. Her father was not quite happy about it, but couldn't really control it either. He assigned guards to her and she seemed to be smart enough to get away from them. Felicia thought that her guards were just stupid enough to fall for her little pranks. And trust her too easily. She used to mess with their heads and threathen them that she would tell her father, who would not be happy even though he had assigned them. They usually got pretty confused.
After her accident, her father insisted that she would leave the castle grounds only with a group of soldiers who could protect them. Felicia felt only like a pampered child and somehow persuade her father to ditch them. Thank god for that. Besides, she got Eli, at least most of the time. He was a good soldier, why else would her father made him a knight – he had earned it. Felicia saw her room as her steps echoed from the floor. The sound wasn't loud – thank god, otherwise someone would be in her room in seconds – but just loud enough for her to see clearly. Stony floors were the best. The forest echoed quite differently. There were lots of voices there but it was softer – her image of the forest was always softer. Like in a dream or something. Minus the colors of course. She was able to see the shapes, black and white. But not colors. Not really anyways. She could tell different shades though.
The next thing, before going down, she felt was Eli with her belt. She didn't really take any weapons with her other than her staff. And that was mostly for making some noise. Or well, her small sword. Just in case. Besides, she could easily use it to protect herself too. She was trained enough to defend herself but Felicia always enjoyed it just for fun. Of course weapons would be useless against arcanists. Sometimes she had wished that she would've got some kind of awesome supernatural power instead of her blindsight but oh well, she was actually quite happy with that. Felicia couldn't help but smirk quite playfully, when Eli buckled her belt around her. ”But where would be the fun in that?”. She smiled and gave him a light kiss on his cheek, a little thank you even though she did not need a guardian. Of course Eli wanted to protect her, but she wouldn't risk anyone's life over hers. Honestly. ”Oh really? So that's where it came from? Funny... Who have you been waiting for since I'm already one step ahead of you?”
Felicia definitely knew the castle ground too well. She knew where the guards were and when and had figured out a safe path with minimum attention. She tried to move as quietly as she could, causing her to miss the vision of things sometimes. But she knew what she was doing. In a little moment she was already outside the walls, heading to the forest nearby. She stopped for a moment to check where Eli was. It was a habit of hers but she also didn't want to cause him trouble. Basically that meant that anytime her father would catch them or had catched them, she would say that it was her idea and she forced Eli with her. Sometimes she even hated her father a bit when he sent Eli to do his knight-thingies but understood also that he had his duties to do. She hated being apart from him. She loved his jokes, his humorous nature, even the most annoying things he did. She loved him. Ever since she was fifteen. Which means she had fallen in love with him two years ago. Sadly, she would not say it out loud or admit it. Her father had told her to love whoever she wanted but she did not quite trust it. She had heard so many stories of bethrothals to make peace and since everything was unsteady and uncertain. You never knew what disagreements were to come. It was her duty to keep her head in the game.
”So, how was it... wherever you were?” she asked, sounding maybe a little bitter. Not that she wanted to go but just cause life had been really boring with basically no one to talk to. [/style] |

Shortly after she made her way toward the forest, Eli silently landed on his feet and followed after her. He had no problem catching up, his strides so much longer than hers. "It was very dismal," he responded, pushing onward and holding back branches for her every so often. "I was sent to Faelbane.... to the Dead Woods."He looked back to her, to make sure she was alright and wasn't stumbling or anything. "It's a wretched place, full of dark creatures. When the wind blows, you can hear the trees whispering, as if they're plotting exactly how to kill you. If you're not careful of where you step, the ground may swallow you up, into a dark abyss. Horrid place.... you'd love it."Chuckling lightly, Eli looked to the darkened sky and thought about his time spent in the Dead Woods. They had been searching for a rogue mage who had broken out of Van'Ostgar's Arcane City. Twice, Eli had almost died in the Dead Woods. "It was quite an adventure.
