BEAT INSIDE ME, LEAVE YOU BLIND. -----------------------------------------------------------------Tara hadn't been prepared for it. Sure, she knew she would love her child, but the intensity of such love was overwhelming at times. She was sure that Markos felt the same way at times. She liked to watch the two of them together sometimes, when he didn't know that she was doing so. Just seeing the look in his eyes as he held their daughter was enough to melt the young woman's heart. -----------------------------------------------------------------She couldn't help but wonder if all parents were the same way with their first child. Every time the infant did something new, one of her parents was there to dote on her in a rather absurdly excited manner. For instance, the first time Adia smiled, Tara had nearly given her husband a heart attack when she woke him from a deep slumber to see. One would have thought that someone was being attacked, but no... their baby was just smiling. After the birth of Adia, the young couple waited out the blizzard in the abandoned barn until the new mother was well enough to travel. From there, they sought out the hospitality of the queen who, until then, had not known about the hatchling, Rhaek. Tara knew what was to come. She knew that Lydia was going to ask Markos ad Rhaek to join her forces. It might even mean a high ranking title for the knight and, as much as Tara hated the idea of her husband marching into battle, she was just going to have to trust that Mark and Rhaek woulf take care of one another. Winter had faded into Spring and the more the hatchling grew, the closer Tara knew her friend was getting to asking Markos. Of course, while said hatchling was growing, Tara's own little hatchling was growing. At two months of age, Adia Harper resembled both of her parents greatly, with her father's dark curls and her mother's hazel eyes. Simply put, she was the most beautiful baby that Tara had ever laid eyes on and she often found it hard to look away from the angelic face of her baby. The windows in their chamber within the palace were open. They were once again staying in the room that they had spent their first few weeks as man and wife. Upon their large bed, Adia lay freshly bathed and smelling of lilac as her mother dressed her in her and spoke to her, just to make her smile. Every so often the infant would make a sound of laughter: the kind of laughter that could only come from such a small baby. Tara herself wore a green and white dress, happy that she was once again able to fit comfortably inside her regular clothes. Since giving birth, she was slimming down very nicely. Her hair hung down her back in curls and there was a lively smile upon her face. She wished that Aiden was around. She could just picture him doting over his tiny niece, but she knew he would be back from Mourinor eventually. Word had been sent to him of the child's birth the first chance Tara had to send out a raven. "Don't you give me that look," she said to Adia, resisting the urge to smile behind her lightly pursed lips. "That's the same look your father gives me when he's being stubborn." The child cooed with tiny laughter, the crease between her brows smoothing out as she unfurrowed them. Scooping up her tiny bundle, Tara Harper brushed the back of her hand against the child's silky smooth cheek. "A word of advice, my little sparrow, mothers are always right and fathers are just plain silly, especially yours." Light shone in from the window and the sun was starting to set on the horizon. Markos would be joining them sooner or later and Tara was anxious to see him. Though she had improved a great deal after everything that had happened to her, she sill grew anxious at times when she wasn't around him. He was her anchor, the one thing that always kept her steady and in place. "Don't you worry though. I'll tell you everything you need to know about your father and how to get away with things. Just bat those pretty little lashes at him and you'll have a pony before your first birthday." Sitting upon the window seat, Tara allowed Adia to take her finger and wrap her tiny hand around it.
