THE APPEARANCE
Of average height and posture, Bryce does not much stand out amongst his fellow men. Bryce's skill in the arcane art has prompted him to adopt a 'mind-over-matter' approach to whatever fighting skills he possess, hence one could categorize him as of average human strength, nothing fancy. He possesses skill with a rapier, but prefers not to use it, nor flaunt his fighting prowess in the face of his surroundings. He keeps his dark brown hair quite short, in winter it can be mistaken for an almost jet black, due to lack of sunlight. The prince's eyes are a light blue, said to radiate slightly with awareness and excitement at times.
THE PERSONALITY
A child prodigy gifted with an uncanny intellect, Bryce never had any trouble with his education. When presented with a book, the youthful prince will plow through it at the speed of light, and by the end of it he would be able to recite it page by page. He possesses an eidetic memory and rarely if ever forgets anything. When found outside of his study he tends to be charismatic and humorous, fascinated by the world around him, he loves to travel across the seas or forests in search of new things to study. When it comes to his social skills Bryce can be quite clumsy, however. He possesses a rather dark, often cynical sense of humor that only likeminded individuals tend to appreciate, he's a trickster, and likes to enact childish pranks that will freak out, but never hurt, servant and noble alike. Bryce is bullheaded and stubborn, especially with his brother but when his sister comes into the picture he will do anything to bring a smile to her face.
THE HISTORY
BIRTH REALM: Faeryn
BIRTH KINGDOM: Everfell
Born the middle child out of three, Bryce never experienced the strong demands that came with being firstborn, or the tedious protectiveness that came with being youngest. Bryce developed a style all his own, impressing his parents with astonishing feats of intellect as they occupied themselves with his siblings. He first walked when he was six months old, with the first of his words following months later. His mind is said to have developed at such a stunning rate, the young prince could read and write by the time he was four. Most of these skills, self taught as they were, were honed even further after a personal tutor was assigned to him, he quickly developed the interests he held to this day.
His penchant for magic was discovered only a few years after that, yet it was a closely guarded secret kept between himself and his tutor. One would call him a Fëanáro these days, yet at the same time, he also exhibits the trademark signs of a sorcerer. From his sixth year onward, Bryce was able to accomplish feats of magic that would baffle the world around him; it would however not be until after the death of his mother their code of silence was broken. In his grief, he was said to have turned a man into a duck, another one into a toad, and yet another was made into a pig. Only after a long conversation with his father, the king, did he turn them back. Such is only rumor, yet many servants speak of the outburst 'till this day, as he never managed to turn the latter victim back into a full human. The man was doomed to walk around with a pig's tail until his retirement. If one believes in such things, of course.
While his mother died during the birth of his dearest sister, Bryce never harbored ill intent toward her. The prince would read to her from his books, and whilst they weren't those lovely bedtime stories one heard about in fairy tales, they did an adequate job at putting her to sleep. To this day he remains unable to tell if this was the result of absolute boredom, or genuine sleepiness.
Even though his magic had manifested quite clearly, his father made him pick up the sword in practice. Yet he was not his brother, he considered physical prowess to be brutish, useless. It did not further th causes of good, nor did it bring the kingdom any prosperity. To prepare for warfare, was to prepare for death, pestilence and famine. Upon those grounds he opposed it, and while he proved very capable at the art of swordsmanship, it was after the death of his father he finally shelved the pointy thing for good. It was the single most destructive moment in his life; his father was assassinated in full view of an assembled court. After consoling his sister, he retreated into his study, devastated, and for weeks on end remained there. One could only guess what brought him back out into the real world, the pleading eyes of his sister, or the angered voice of his brother.
Since the death of his father, and the coronation of his brother he has spend an extended period of time in the forests, studying the elven civilization that seems to dominate those lands. He remains blissfully ignorant of the rising tensions between the seven kingdoms, yet is well aware of what is playing out in Faylinn. Only time will tell what he will do when war comes knocking, one could say it will be an interesting experience, however.
